Chino Hills

Canyon roads and commuter traffic

Chino Hills sits near Chino, Corona, and the Orange County line, and its roads carry heavy commuter traffic. The 71 runs along the city’s east side, and Grand Avenue, Peyton Drive, Chino Hills Parkway, Soquel Canyon Parkway, and Butterfield Ranch Road link neighborhoods to the freeway.

Carbon Canyon Road, Highway 142, is a two-lane canyon route with tight curves and narrow shoulders, where speed and unsafe passing can turn a small mistake into a serious crash, especially for motorcyclists.

Chino Hills contracts with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, which runs the Chino Hills Police Department from its station on Peyton Drive. Crashes on the 71 are usually handled by the CHP. If a case has to be filed, it is usually filed in San Bernardino County Superior Court.

Our office at 700 E. Grand Blvd. in Corona is a short drive down the 71. You can meet with us there, talk by phone, or start online.

Common questions

Chino Hills injury questions

How much does it cost?

No fee and no costs unless we recover. We work on a contingency fee, and we explain the percentage in writing before you sign.

What if a dog bit me?

California holds a dog’s owner responsible for most bites in public places or where you were lawfully present, even if the dog never bit anyone before. Report the bite to the Inland Valley Humane Society, which handles animal control for Chino Hills.

Do I have to come to Corona?

No. You can handle most of the claim by phone and online. If you want to meet in person, our office is a short drive down the 71.

What if the road itself played a part?

Carbon Canyon Road is a state highway, so a claim about its design or upkeep usually goes to the State of California; city streets go to the City of Chino Hills. Either claim usually must be presented in writing within six months.

How long do I have to file?

Most injury lawsuits in California must be filed within two years, and claims against a public agency are due much sooner. Call early so a deadline does not decide your case.

Do you speak Spanish?

Yes. Se habla español. Tell us when you call and we will arrange it.
